How to find your tire size

There are two places to find your tire size. If you're wanting to replace what was installed by the manufacturer, you will find a small badge on the inside of your door. Otherwise, if you want to replace the size that is currently on your vehicle, you can read the size from the sidewall of the tire.

About Tire Changeovers

When should I switch to winter tires, or take off winter tires, in Canada?
In the fall, we recommend installing winter tires when temperatures are more consistently dipping below 7C. This ensures better traction and safety on cold, icy, or snowy roads. In the spring, you can book your winter tire changeover when temperatures are higher than 7C most of the time.
Can I use winter tires year-round?
While you can drive on winter tires all year, it is not recommended. Winter tires are designed for cold temperatures and snowy conditions. Using them in warm weather can cause faster tread wear, reduced fuel efficiency, and longer stopping distances. In most Canadian regions, it’s best to switch to 3-season or summer tires once temperatures consistently stay above 7°C for optimal safety and performance. If you want one set of tires for all four seasons, consider all-weather tires. They provide safe performance in both cold and warm conditions but may not match winter tires in extreme snow and ice.
How long does a 4-tire changeover or swap take?
A tire change or swap typically take 30 to 90 minutes, depending on the vehicle. Combining additional services may extend this time frame. Your local store will be able to provide a more detailed duration estimate.
What's included in a tire change?

When changing or swapping your tires, Kal’s technicians carefully inspect your tires and vehicle hardware, then perform precision balancing to ensure a smooth, worry free drive. Here’s our step-by-step process:

  1. 1. Inspecting tires for wear, age, and overall condition
  2. 2. Removing the wheel and tire assemblies and inspecting installation hardware
  3. 3. Visual inspection of key braking, steering, and suspension components
  4. 4. Cleaning wheel and vehicle mounting surfaces to ensure proper fit
  5. 5. Dismounting and remounting tires onto the wheel assemblies
  6. 6. High-speed balancing for smooth, vibration-free driving
  7. 7. Reinstalling wheels and tires onto the vehicle
  8. 8. Hand-torquing wheel fasteners to manufacturer specifications
  9. 9. Inflating tires to the vehicle manufacturer’s recommended pressures
  10. 10. Recalibrating TPMS (Tire Pressure Monitoring System) when required
  11. 11. Final secondary torque check before returning the vehicle to you
Do I need an appointment or can I walk in?
We recommend booking an appointment online or by phone to guarantee your preferred day and time. Walk-ins are welcome at most Kal Tire locations, but availability may vary during peak seasons.
