Good winter tires shouldn't drain your bank account but instead provide surefootedness and affordability. Goodrides's SW608 is a prime example of that. This winter tire excelled in testing when braking in ice and snow and also attained top marks while handling in slush. It's performance is slightly compromised when cornering in the dry cold, but overall the tire gets the best scores for resisting hydroplaning over standing water, providing low rollling resistance, and keeping road noise to a minimum. The tire's aggressie V-shaped tread design combined with deep grooves dispel snow and water, while the directional tire sipes maximize the contact patch. Goodride's SW608 presents a significant value in a high-traction winter tire that's only available at Kal Tire.

Kal's Test Results

"A good value winter tire. Drives well enough and is reasonably capable in winter conditions."

?Summer vs Winter Tests

BRAKING

We varied our approach speeds by driving surface and by season for two reasons. First, this represents how most Canadians would normally drive on that surface in each season. Second, testing in both seasons provides an indication of how a tire's performance will be affected by road temperature.

CORNERING

To understand how road surface temperatures affect the cornering performance of a tire, our cornering tests are completed in both summer conditions (dry and wet pavement, and gravel roads) and winter conditions (dry, wet and icy pavement). Please note that slush is also tested but completed in a specific slush cornering test..

?Independent & Objective Testing

The independent tire testers conducted extensive tests to determine how the tires in our core line-up perform in a range of conditions in both summer and winter. To maintain neutrality, no driver knew the specifics of the tires they were testing each time. All results were analyzed and processed by the testing group and then provided to Kal Tire for sharing with our customers.

Amazing

So this was my first year being able to afford winter tires, and to be fair I didn't spend alot; the tire I got was the 89.99$, I can't remember the name of it but the rating system and the discription of the tire on the Kal tire page was exact. 4 🌟 s on everything save turning, which for me was fine because I was used to a small drift when turning due to my past two winters. But you shouldn't be cranking it going sixty on a drift of snow anyway. And even though my tires were not fancy- holy. crap. it was SOOO much better than none at all.
The personnel were friendly and knowledgeable and timely, I was in and out in less than 30 for the change from spring to winter tires. I did not have rims to change they were put on the originals. And Kal Tire had the lowest bill I out of the other places I checked.
The tires plus manpower plus (insurance on the tires which are free) taxes-- just a few bucks north of 500$.
This place is awesome and I'm comming back.
