I had these exact same tires for 4 winters and they outperformed these ones. When these tires were installed they appeared to me to be used slightly. Not performing like my first set.

Christian was very helpful & tracked Down what I needed for my Range Rover Velar. A great set of studded Nokians & some beautiful wheels. Everything went smooth and I’ll definitely be back.

When researching winter tires, my general view was that most of the time you don't need studded tires in the Edmonton area. The roads are broadly dry and cold, studless winter tires are fine. However, every year there's perhaps 10-20 days that are just absolutely awful, and most of the risk of winter driving is concentrated in those days. The main issue is ice from thaw-freeze cycles or freezing rain, and studs should be a major improvement on those high-risk days specifically. I made my decision based on that logic.

Initial impressions were that they are loud. At slow speeds it always sounds like you are driving on gravel, and there is a distinct noise at higher speeds. Over the first thousand or so kilometres both of these sounds have subsided significantly, and I do not feel like they are especially loud now. The gravel sound is most noticeable at parking lot speeds. Fuel economy impacts have been minimal. When brand new they weren't particularly confident tires, squirmy and lacked grip, I think they need a few hundred kilometres before they work properly and they're just fine now.

The fates decided that we should receive quite a number of icy and nasty days in November and December this year. Both fresh snow turning to ice, as well as freezing rain. So we've had reasonable opportunity to test out these tires on the intended "high-risk days". So far they've been superb. They do not provide perfect traction, but they hugely limit the amount of slip you experience. You will still scrabble for grip a bit on an icy uphill start, but you always find that grip and you never just spin tires fruitlessly. This is in a FWD car, I'm sure AWD would love these tires even more.

This review is based on only a few thousand kilometres of commuting use, mixed city and highway, I can't comment on wear. There was an issue on the first shop visit with wheel fitment for the new steel wheels we got with the tire order. Kal Tire handled that issue reasonably and we are satisfied with the outcome.
