Helping our communities thrive, one team at a time.
Year-round, our teams strive to make a positive impact in our neighbourhoods. To inspire and enhance the fundraising efforts of local teams, Kal Tire matches funds they’ve raised through our Community Matching Gifts Program.
We’re proud to be a long-standing supporter of Kids Help Phone through Walk So Kids Can Talk, one of Kal Tire’s biggest local fundraising initiatives.
Each year, we award post-secondary scholarships to the children of team members to support career development and another generation of community-minded individuals.
Over the years, hundreds of team members have raised more than $189,000 for Kids Help Phone by participating in their annual fundraiser, Walk So Kids Can Talk. Each year, Kal Tire sponsors several walk sites across Canada and we always look forward to spending the day with team and community members while helping to promote the important work of Kids Help Phone.
The Community Matching Gifts Program has become an incredible way to inspire team members to engage in community development and direct Kal Tire community funding toward the local causes that mean the most to them.
The program matches funds raised by our teams for registered charities and non-profit organizations.
It’s up to our local teams to initiate the application to Kal Tire for matching funds, so if you are interested in pursuing Kal Tire’s Community Matching Gifts Program, you’ll need to engage your local Kal Tire team directly in your fundraiser. Find stores near you.
At Kal Tire, we’ve always believed it’s important for young people to prepare themselves for a successful future. One of the most important components of this preparation is to complete a level of education that provides them with a good start on achieving their career and life goals.
To give students a strong start, we award eight scholarships of $1,500 to dependents of Kal Tire team members who are pursuing post-secondary education. Scholarship funds can be applied to tuition, books and other student fees while studying.
Team members receive information each year about how to apply.
In 2015, the Colombia division of the Mining Tire Group set out to help make a difference in an impoverished Barranquilla neighbourhood. They discovered the Fundación Social Emanuel (Emanuel Social Foundation), which provides community social work as well as child care and early learning for nearly 125 children—both with the goal of improving the lives of families in Las Flores.
We began supporting the school’s daily lunch program, donated funds for the construction of the dining room, and Kal Tire Colombia team members raised enough money on their own to give all of the children new school uniforms.
