AREA MANAGER – MTG, Val d’Or, Quebec.

Our mining tire group has been servicing mine sites since 1972. We began as a division of Kal Tire, Canada’s leading tire retailer, servicing mine sites in and around central British Columbia, where we quickly established a reputation for reliability, innovation and outstanding service. Today, Kal Tire’s Mining Tire Group operates in over 19 countries, across 5 continents and has more than 1,100 team members.

Due to growth, Kal Tire’s Mining Tire Group is expanding into the Rouyn-Noranda-Val d’Or region of Western Quebec. As a result, we are in search of an Area Manager to take the lead on building, establishing and managing an operational service team from the ground up. Reporting to the Regional Manager, the Area Manager will provide service direction to the team by leading Kal Tire service standards and evolving customer loyalty by supporting programs and lowering the customers overall fleet costs. These standards will be achieved by ensuring training initiatives are driven to overall support team members and their development. Work performance will ensure that all aspects of the company are being conducted in a manner consistent with the goals and objectives of Kal Tire and customers, while ensuring that the AIMS are upheld and supported by all Team Members.

Core Responsibilities Include:

  • Ensure all aspects of Kal Tire’s Health & Safety Program are communicated and implemented in a consistent manner throughout the region. Including; D&A Program, FLRA, Hazard Analysis, SWP’s, Accident/Incident Investigation & Reporting, Monthly Safety Meetings & Inspections, Due Diligence, etc.
  • Establish and maintain an overall Manpower Strategy for the region — Planning, Recruiting, Retention and Succession Planning.
  • Ensure all existing programs for the Training & Development of Team Members are implemented on a consistent basis.
  • Provide a monthly report on area activities — using defined KPI’s to benchmark performance.
  • Ensure a consistent standard of service is delivered to customers following established Kal Tire MTG policies and procedures, including; Site Inspections, Tire & Wheel Inspections, Air Checks, Rotations, Re-torques, Tire Matching, Repair Program, Data Collection, Analysis and Reporting, etc.
  • Ensure adequate resources are available to deliver service in a safe, effective and efficient manner.
  • Ensure adequate resources are in place (training and support) to maximize the effective utilization of available technology — Tire Track, TTT, Scales, etc.
  • Ensure that the current and future needs of the customer are understood and that an adequate supply of suitable goods and services are available when required, focused on providing Best Value.
  • Including; industry knowledge, Tire Awareness presentations, current and future fleet sizes, manpower and equipment requirements, etc.

Knowledge, Skill and Abilities:

  • Outstanding communication skills, both written and verbal along with strong analytical and problem solving skills.
  • Safe personal work performance, particularly whilst traveling and when visiting mine sites.
  • Ability to exercise sound judgment to identify and resolve problems.
  • Worked with the development of improvement project valuation methodologies and improvement strategies.
  • Understanding safe methods of work procedures and safety performance measures.
  • Understands how to generate and manage a budget plan.
  • Understands the core value of customer service and the key influences that drive value, increased revenue and service delivery improvement.
  • Strong analytical, problem solving, negotiating, influencing, prioritization, decision-making and conflict resolution skills.
  • Ability to communicate with a wide range of people both verbally and written.
  • Ability to ensure the work gets done in a timely manner.
    • Ability to exercise sound judgment to identify and resolve problems.
    • Ability to operate under pressure.
    • Able to deliver effective results, meet tight deadlines and targets.

Special Requirements:

  • Regular travel will be required.
  • Occasional evening or weekend work may be required.
  • Must have a Valid Quebec driver’s license.

Education and Experience:

  • A post-secondary graduate with a degree, diploma or certificate in sales, marketing and/or business.
  • A minimum of 5-7 years of sales and operations experience coupled with a minimum of 5 years experience in a managerial or leadership capacity.
