Tire dealer hosts in-store job fair to attract nearly 100 team members
At a time when Alberta’s unemployment rate is at its highest in nearly 20 years, Kal Tire is hosting a job fair Friday to find team members to fill nearly 100 positions in Edmonton alone.
On Friday, Sept. 16, a Parsons Road Kal Tire location will open its doors in hopes of finding dozens of temporary sales and service technicians to help with winter tire changeover season, and possibly beyond.
“We’re heading into one of our busiest times of year and we need to recruit a lot of team members, so we decided to host a couple of job fairs across Alberta at some of our stores,” says Mike Butcher, senior zone manager, Kal Tire.
“We hosted one in Calgary last week with a lot of success and we’re looking forward to meeting more people in Edmonton. Job fairs like this give us a better chance to talk one-on-one with people applying, and give them a better chance to see what we’re about and meet some of our team members.”
Edmonton’s job fair will focus on local job openings, but Kal Tire—Canada’s largest independent tire dealer with more than 250 retail stores across Canada and nearly 5,400 team members—is looking to hire more than 200 technicians across Alberta this month and dozens more across the country. While some of those roles are seasonal and/or part-time, the company says it looks for ways to keep driven and customer-focused team members on board after winter rush.
“We do have an opportunity here to find some really strong talent interested in a career with Kal Tire,” says Butcher. “We’re really looking for team players who are driven and motivated.”
All training for the positions available is provided and no tire experience is required. Job-seekers are encouraged to bring their resumes.
