All-weather tires can often seem like a compromise, trying to toe the line between good warm weather performance and decent cold weather abilities. Known primarily for their winter tires, Nokian has created an excellent all-weather tire that won't disappoint in rather polarizing conditions. The WRG3 attained a score of "good" in our tests when it came to ice braking and ice and snow cornering, while on wet and dry pavement, it nailed the very good to excellent rating. Surprisingly in slushy conditions, the WRG3 is as good as it gets, while keeping hydroplaning at bay adroitly. Built-in wear indicators keep you abreast of remaining tread life, too. If you don't want two sets of tires year round, the WRG3s are a superb choice.

?Summer vs Winter Tests

BRAKING

We varied our approach speeds by driving surface and by season for two reasons. First, this represents how most Canadians would normally drive on that surface in each season. Second, testing in both seasons provides an indication of how a tire's performance will be affected by road temperature.

CORNERING

To understand how road surface temperatures affect the cornering performance of a tire, our cornering tests are completed in both summer conditions (dry and wet pavement, and gravel roads) and winter conditions (dry, wet and icy pavement). Please note that slush is also tested but completed in a specific slush cornering test..

?Independent & Objective Testing

The independent tire testers conducted extensive tests to determine how the tires in our core line-up perform in a range of conditions in both summer and winter. To maintain neutrality, no driver knew the specifics of the tires they were testing each time. All results were analyzed and processed by the testing group and then provided to Kal Tire for sharing with our customers.

Grip is excellent in snow and wet condition. gas mileage is better than i expect. Only concern i have is the durability. These can probably only last 3 winters for us.

Very pleasantly surprised how quiet they are on dry pavement and how well they perform in the snow and slush

Nokian All-Weather Tires
4
1 month ago by DAVID GUMBS.

I chose the Nokian all-weather tires because I did not want to purchase new summer and winter tires which is what I needed. I was told that these would perform well in all Toronto conditions. I have a rear drive sports car. So far their performance is good. A little slippery in snow conditions but this is to be expected with a sports car. I am still able to get fairly good grip while I watch others struggling. I will see by the end of winter how well they have performed.
