For an entry-level 3-season tire, the Goodride RP26 offers good value for those on a budget. In fact, it received higher marks than some higher-end competitors in our independent performance testing in the passenger tire segment. It earned our top rating for both dry and wet braking, as well as dry cornering, and a ‘very good’ rating for wet braking. If you consider that it also garnered solid feedback for road noise, hydroplaning and rolling resistance, you have the makings for a very savvy purchase. The RP26 is also rated for mud and snow, delivering exceptional performance on snow and ice, and average handling in slush . The one area where the RP26 falls short of the competition is in expected treadlife, as it’s rated for 80,000km. However, given that it comes in at half the price of some competitors, it might be worth considering.

?Summer vs Winter Tests

BRAKING

We varied our approach speeds by driving surface and by season for two reasons. First, this represents how most Canadians would normally drive on that surface in each season. Second, testing in both seasons provides an indication of how a tire's performance will be affected by road temperature.

CORNERING

To understand how road surface temperatures affect the cornering performance of a tire, our cornering tests are completed in both summer conditions (dry and wet pavement, and gravel roads) and winter conditions (dry, wet and icy pavement). Please note that slush is also tested but completed in a specific slush cornering test..

?Independent & Objective Testing

The independent tire testers conducted extensive tests to determine how the tires in our core line-up perform in a range of conditions in both summer and winter. To maintain neutrality, no driver knew the specifics of the tires they were testing each time. All results were analyzed and processed by the testing group and then provided to Kal Tire for sharing with our customers.

My gauge for how good something is on my car is when I don't notice it!

I'm not driving much right now because I'm able to work from home, and I'm sticking very close to home. However, I prefer switching between dedicated winter tires and all- seasons, and I knew I had to buy new tires to replace and preserve my winter tires -- my previous ones had reached the end of their life last autumn. I found the Kal-Tire very easy to use, I found appropriate tires in my price range very easily, and the online booking system to make an appointment was very smooth. The tires themselves -- I don't notice them, because my car stops when it's supposed to, turns fine, and accelerates well, in all the different weather I've encounted so far.

Nothing to complain about with these tires. I like using all season tires in the Summer to Fall so these are perfectly fine for that and recommend them to anyone else looking for something cheap.
