?Summer vs Winter Tests
BRAKING
We varied our approach speeds by driving surface and by season for two reasons. First, this represents how most Canadians would normally drive on that surface in each season. Second, testing in both seasons provides an indication of how a tire's performance will be affected by road temperature.
CORNERING
To understand how road surface temperatures affect the cornering performance of a tire, our cornering tests are completed in both summer conditions (dry and wet pavement, and gravel roads) and winter conditions (dry, wet and icy pavement). Please note that slush is also tested but completed in a specific slush cornering test..
?Independent & Objective Testing
The independent tire testers conducted extensive tests to determine how the tires in our core line-up perform in a range of conditions in both summer and winter. To maintain neutrality, no driver knew the specifics of the tires they were testing each time. All results were analyzed and processed by the testing group and then provided to Kal Tire for sharing with our customers.

I hope to remember to update my review after I put 10,000 km's or so on the tires as it can often be a much different review. So far I really like these Sumitomo tires. I'm putting a lot of faith in KalTires test results. Traction is great on dry and wet roads, braking is great, I don't feel the sidewalls flexing on sharper turns (mind you mine are Prius sharp turns), the ride quality is smooth and they are much better over the bumps then my Nokian winter tires - as I would expect for a summer tire. The road noise is minimal to reasonable but I don't expect tires to be absolutely quiet from my driving experiences. I did read a couple of reviews how these tires love to hang on to gravel in its treads and I can agree with that annoyance. I now just hope my observations stay true as the tires wear and I can get decent life out of the tread. Fingers crossed.
Service at the Richmond KalTire was excellent and the pre-purchase advice I received with a phone representative was helpful.
