The Bandag Non-Destructive Inspection (Shearography)

Shearographic inspection using Bandag's 7400 Insight is capable of finding a multitude of problems produced by such things as faulty repairs, run flat tires, inner liner damage, sidewall impact separations, etc. that are otherwise hidden from visual inspection.

The 7400 Insight subjects the casing to a vacuum while lasers and CCD (Charge-Coupled Device) cameras measure surface anomalies. The system's computer compares multiple images and any difference in the information of one picture to the other results in a "sheared image differential". This is translated by the computer into an animated visual and assists in determining the size, severity and location of any potential problems.
