Milling of Rubber
In most cases, only 100% natural rubber is placed into the milling
machine. However, depending on the application, we will add 15% synthetic to reach maximum operating efficiency of the tire. The rear roller moves at a faster speed than the front
roller and in effect creates friction and thus heats the rubber;
increasing its elasticity. Once the rubber reaches the desired temperature
for adhesion and is smooth and free of air bubbles it is transferred
to a magazine.
For rubber tires used underground, a synthetic layer
is laid over top of the rubber, making the final product more cut
resistant.
