Skiving

Skiving, or "cleaning the hole," is the process of removing any injuries caused by rocks, glass, nails etc. The rule of thumb is that an injury will never get smaller, it will only grow bigger. The damaged area is carefully removed with a stone drill that cleans the area, allowing for the proper adhesion and texture of new rubber.
